In today’s feedback session we really emphasized the importance of not moving the whole upper body as a unit. We looked at reference and in this instance how the hips were leading the motion and the upper torso followed.
In some cases a certain move can start with the head. Other times the hips. It just depends what motivates the move. It all comes down to your major breakdown though. This is why this pose is so important. This is where you define what leads what. From there we explored the importance of proper balance or weight. When a character takes a step its important to make sure the hips moves over the foot that is grounded. Any time you are lifting a foot make sure the hips are favoring the opposite foot.
