Date pushed back for the upcoming Reel Review event. New Date is Friday October 26th!
The Animation Collaborative in Emeryville, www.animationcollaborative.com, will host the event. We’re pretty excited to put on this event with Michal Makarewicz and the guys down there. It will be a great night. Stay tuned for more details.

We’re excited to announce: Animation Reel Review October 18th!!
Mark it in your calender right now. Get serious about polishing up your reel. This is a great chance to find out where your animation reel is at.

Great Reel Review night again!! It was on. Such an incredible energy from everyone who showed up. Lanesplitter’s was packed with people both students and industry professionals. A few guys even drove up from LA to have their animations reviewed!! The Reel Feedback crew rocked it and reviewed reels all night. We reviewed over 90 reels! It was great. We had an awesome staff helping us to make the whole night go smooth. Thanks to Lanesplitter’s for hosting once again. Great to see everyone’s work and thanks for coming out!

Lead Animator from Tippett Joins Us For Upcoming Reel Review Night!

Brian Mendenhall is a 9 years veteran Lead Animator at Tippett Studio where he worked on films like Starship Troopers 2, Hellboy, Constantine, Charlottes Web, Enchanted, and Spiderwick. He graduated from Academy of Art College. For the last 5 years he’s also been mentoring students over at Animation Mentor. Currently he is a Lead Animator on Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’ which hits theaters this summer.

Come on down for some pizza, beverages and solid demo reel feedback . You don’t want to miss it!

Two Animators from Tippett and Pixar joins us for Reel Review!!

Dovi Andersen, Animator at Pixar Animation Studio, and William Groebe, Animaton Supervisor at Tippett Studio, just confirmed for the upcoming Reel Review Event March 29th!!

Dovi Andersen began his animation career at Tippett in 2000, where he helped bring life to a host of monsters, furry critters, stunt doubles, and killer robots on films including Hellboy, Matrix Revolutions, and Charlotte’s Web. In 2006, Dovi joined Pixar, where he has worked on Ratatouille, Wall-E and Up. He is currently wrapping up three years of work on Brave.

William Groebe is an Animation Supervisor at Tippett Studio. After six years working in the video game industry as an animator and concept artist he was hired as an animator for ESC Entertainment to work on Matrix: Revolutions. Shortly afterwards William moved over to Tippett Studio to work on Hellboy. Since then William has lead the animation teams on Mirror Mirror, Smurfs, Cats and Dogs II: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and The Golden Compass, as well as contributing animation, storyboards, and concept art to Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1and 2, Twilight: Eclipse, Enchanted, Charlotte’s Web, Cloverfield, The Golden Compass, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Constantine, and more.

Lead Animator Pete Kelly from ILM will be joining us again on March 29th for another Animation Reel Review!!! Pete is an amazing animator and has worked on some of the top blockbusters out there like Star Wars, Hulk and Transformers!!
He just wrapped animation on the Avenger due for release this May. This a rare opportunity for one night ONLY to get some serious advice from industry pro’s.

Even if you don’t have a reel but you are working on an animation clip, bring it in and we’ll review it. Get FREE advice from some of the top animators out there! We’ll have laptops on hand for one-on-one review sessions!

Animation Director Joins Us For Reel Review Night!

Chris Hatala, Animation Director at Massive Black, is joining us for the upcoming Reel Review night in Emeryville! He is currently directing the animation for several game projects at Massive Black. Prior to Massive Black Chris was down at Weta in New Zealand for several years animating on The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong. The lineup is seriously starting to take shape. Get your reel ready. March 29th is coming up – you don’t want to miss it!

Lead Animator at Tippett Studio, Hans Brekke, writes about the concept of moving the body as a unit. When you have an action its important to understand what motivates your body to move. Usually you want to avoid moving the body as a unit. Studying body mechanics and getting a solid foundation is very important before diving into acting and performance.

The Review Board for our next event on March 29th is starting to take shape. Three animators with extensive animal and creature experience just confirmed! Two of Tippett Studio’s animation supervisors, Tom Gibbons and Jim Brown, together with lead animator Hans Brekke will be returning to Lanesplitters in Emeryville for another Reel Review session. Tom Gibbons and Hans Brekke are beginning production on the final film in the Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn part 2 – while Jim Brown is wrapping animation on Seth MacFarlane’s Ted which hits theaters this summer. This is your chance to get FREE one-on-one feedback on your animation reel. You don’t want to miss it!
